My Week in Triathlon
My triathlon thoughts and learnings over the last week. Let me know what you think or if you have feedback or suggestions!
St. Anthony’s results:
Women 1) Paula Findlay, 2) Vittoria Lopes, 3) Lisa Becharas
Men 1) Jason West, 2) Matt Sharpe, 3) Nic Quenet
Full results here
Race titbits: Yet another swim cancelled due to weather and turned into a Duathlon. Unsurprisingly, West had the fastest run(s), but he also had the fastest bike.
World Duathlon Champs: Over the weekend we saw Emma Pallant-Browne and Mario Mola crowned Duathlon World Champions. Full results here
Doping: I’d be very surprised if it’s news to anyone that Collin Chartier has been caught doping (link). Here are some things I noticed:
He said he felt the “top guys” are doping so needed to dope (ominous statement).
He felt a massive relief when caught as he could exit the triathlon rat-race. (cue introspection for us age-groupers wrestling with performance)
The “Norwegian Method” drove him to depression and wasn’t worth it. (explains why Lionel seems so much happier now)
He mentioned “Mikal lodged the protest against Gustav”?!
Matt Hanson says how important it is for him to truly believe that his competitors are all clean
Breathing and Back Pain: I feel like Innerunner is a competitive advantage - not just for sport but life too. Lawrence says that around 85% of back pain is due to breathing issues. Have a look at the website here and YouTube channel here and enjoy going down the rabbit hole.
That's it for today, now finish your oats and get back to training! If you have any feedback or suggestions, please reply and let me know!
Yours in low CdA,
Aero MaccaFrodownlee
